I found a bug in DOM.
Kinda tested it out and as a result I got deleted (due to bug exploit). I guess it might have been because I was 1st in the highscores for an amazing 2 hours, well above number 2. Oh well, that was fun ... Got about 27 mails with comments like "Huh ?", "WTF !" or "How?".
I used to work for a company called Alphanet and for them I worked 6 months in Antwerp for a place called Frontline.
It wasn't going good with the first one, I knew that, but now it came to my attention the the second one went down too.
Bad time, bad sector, the present and IT. unfortunatly, I'm employed in both. I hope my current company lives the day.
Apparently, eavesdropping is legal in Holland.
Or at least semi legal. There is this story about Israelian software being used to listen to phones. And it looks like the makers of the software possibly have access to the same information as the users, enabling them to get data from captured phone calls around the world.
Note, the article is in Dutch.
My father had to drive the car to the garage today.
Badly aligned front wheels, heating failure and some other stuff. It's still in garanty, but well, still missing it during the repairs.
Got a replacement car, Ford Orion of some sort. No roof rails and thus no kayak transportation possible, which is why I bought a car in the first place.
Dreaming of the next company car ... When, oh, when ...
One of my online games is at the end for me. Starsphere, I liked playing it, but they keep the round going for to long. I got crushed to 1/12th my size yesterday, and not gonna log in anymore utill the new round starts.
The other game, DOM, is not going good either. Constant attacks prevent me from growing. But at least, we can defend against most of them.
The company I work for invited us to a dinner this afternoon.
We went to eat at a place called 'Le Manufacture', which refers to the leather plant next to it. We arrived, and the first time in my life, we entered a restaurant where they had valets (they come and pick up your car and park them for you). To bad I wasn't driving ...
The food was really good. First some prepartion of shrimps of some kind, fried in some flowery substance.
Then 'Croustillants de filet d'agneau de ...' and some more French words that I don't understand. Was good, but I liked the shrimps better ... Hehe.
For desert we had choclate mousse, which was ofcourse very delicious.
With all that we had wine and other dirnks, which complicated working the afternoon after the lunch (like, right now).
I have to wait another 5 minutes before I can go sleep ...
What a man doesn't do for his online game. Anyways, we'll be attacking 15:16 tonight, and if everything goes well, we should crush them. They attacked us earlier this round (they were bigger than us) so you can count this as a retal action.
I was still sleeping from yesterday when my cellular phone beeped. "Ignore it ... " said my brain. And so I did.
But, around lunch time, i woke up for real and checked the phone. Bart kinda reminded me it was kayakpolo training in Lokeren, and since the weather was not to bad, I decided to go.
6 people showed up at the start, the seventh one coming a little late.
They had a new ball. A training ball of 1.5kg, not bad for power training, but in my opinion, not very good for the technical side of the training. For example, catching with 1 hand is not very advisable with the heavy ball. Nor is stopping it with your paddle (you might end up having 2 of them).
Training was nice, we continued till 16:20, and then stood under the shower for like 15 minutes (can you believe it's cold nowadays ?).
It's winter, or closeto it. And it's cold, but we knew that.
Unfortunatly, that's the only time we can go kayak in the Ardens, and even then ...
We started of on the Wamme, way to little water. So it was more shaking and walking than kayaking.
because the first wasn't very good, we did 2 rounds in the Lhomme, broader and more water. The first descent, I was in a boat together with my mother, we had fun. The second run I went alone in my playboat, some rodeo, and the day was good again ...
I have to go sleep now.
Tomorrow we meet at 7:15 in the morning to go kayaking in the Ardens. That's very early, I have to get at least about 6 hours of sleep.
But, it will be worth it. Lots of newbies are coming along, so they'll probably swim more than kayak.
I ran into a small problem at work today. Well, I didn't really create it, but I have to fix it.
So for all people out there designing webpages, read the following.
If you design pages to be viewed on 800x600 resolution, you don't want to make the page (or the flash for that matter) 800x600 pixels. Always take a margin for the scrollbars, the menu, the statusbar, ...
For example, take a witdh of 760 pixels, that should be enough on a screen of 800 pixels to view your site + the scrollbars without having a horizontal scrollbar.
The same goes for sites designed on 1024x768 resolution, they also have scrollbars.
Anyways, try to make it, then set your own resolution on 800x600 and view it. That's the only way to be sure.
My carpool driver overslept today. For once, it wasn't the traffic jams on the E40 that caused us to be late at work.
But we managed to get there only 40 minutes over time, which isn't to bad.
At least his car started, I had some problems with that the other day.
Going to the movies this weekend.
Still doubting wheter we should go see Transporter or XXX. Probably XXX, because Transporter only plays at 22:45, which is late.
Join us, if you feel like it ... Wave, if you see us.
My Volvo 340 GL shakes when driving 105 km/h or more. Oh, and the heating just failed.
It looks ugly but it keeps on driving, it's almost 14 years old.
I wonder when I get my company car.
I don't think I'm supposed to post it here yet.
But well, ... My kayakclub, REWS Gent, is moving.
We will be moving to a nice location next to the 'Watersportbaan', which roughly translates to watersportslane, but you could figure that out yourself.
There will be room for at least 200 kayaks instead of the current 70. Should be nice.
We need it too, because we have grown to 178 members this year. Never happened before.
May it be done fast ...
What would you do if the doctor asked you a simple question. You need a heart operation.
Would you rather have me doing it or this robot here (holds up a miniature robot) ?
I don't know yet, but both are now approved by some institute that does this. You only need 4 incisions for a heart operation, which means less recovery time. Besides, it's cheaper with the robot too.
If you feel like reading the article I got it from, go to the CNN news site. The link will bring you straight to the document.
The internet is a large database of knowledge. Somewhere I came up with the thruth about the Loch Ness monster.
Nessie, the Loch Ness monster is protected by the 1912 Protection of Animals Acts of Scotland.
Not surprising actually. The animal (monster, whatever) is worth $40 million per year to Scottish tourism.
Now, if we could only prove it really exists.
Was he wrong ? Unknowing ? Or stupid ?
In the early 18th century Anders Celsius defined his temperature scale on the melting and boiling temperature of water. You might have been told that water boils at 100 degrees Celsius but the boiling point of water actually depends on the oxygen content and atmospheric pressure. The higher the altitude, the lower the temperature at which water boils. People who live at high altitudes, like Tibetans, drink their tea while it is bubbling with boiling. Many Tibetans who moved to India suffered serious burns when they drank their boiling tea at sea-level.
Survival of the fittest, ...
Was that Darwin who said so ? Or some other scientist ?
The result is the same. Even in the virtual live that is the internet, the struggle is hard. People die out there, virtual or real. Dawn of Myth is my concern at this time. I'm under attack and noone can help me. StarSphere is going better for now.
