  New site for GEKKO

The new site for our kayakclub is finally finished.

It still needs content and such, but that shouldn't be a problem.
The club also has a new domainname, it is now www.gekkokajak.be.

Feel free to leave a comment either here, or there ...

  AMD goes 64 bit

AMD has developed the first 64 bit processor intended for consumer PCs. Intel also has a 64 bit CPU, the Itanium, but that one is only used on servers.

The CPU will be allowing 32 bit applications to run on a 64 bit operating system which makes sure existing software will continue to work.

The long-awaited launch of Advanced Micro Devices' Athlon64 processor is less than a week away, and it's only a matter of time before rival Intel duplicates AMD's approach, the company has said.
Well, at least AMD is very confident. I for sure will wait to see the development of this ...

  MP3 down the drain

For those of you who live in the united states, and probably in some time for all others too, the recording industry association of America started to file lawsuits against file-sharers.
One has even been settled already, for the amount of $ 2000.
It's interesting to note that for a person to be sued, the ISP has to release personal information of its customers. I'm no law specialist, but I belive that's not yet allowed in Belgium. A law was voted in 1998 in America to allow just that (and many other things).

  Fitness - During winter time

The winter is ready to be unleashed here, so the season of kayak is coming to its end.
And what better way is there to maintain condition and power levels than to go to a fitness centre. Well, that's exactly what I did yesterday. The Passage is the name of the centre, close to the kayakclub and my home, which is really convenient.

  Well well

It has been fun again.
It's time for some kayak updates.

We competed in the Belgian cup and did quite well. Our final ranking was 4th, out of 15 teams. That's not bad at all. Leading us were DP A, WKV 1 and TNT 1, they also happen to be the teams leading us in the Belgian competition.

And speaking of that. Yesterday was the 3rd day of the competition.
In Belgium, we seem to attract problems in 1st class. At the Belgian cup DP A and WKV 1 had a little fight and as a result were supposed to be suspended for the coming competition. But since a week is not enough to start an official procedure, they decided to suspend the entire first division to a later date and only tell us about that when we were already present.
That means getting up at 06:00, driving to the competition all for nothing. We played 2 friendly games with other 1st division teams and went home.
